After his dreadful performance last night, Steelers kicker Jeff Reed could be out of a job.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh is “contemplating” cutting Reed, the team’s franchise player. The Steelers will bring in kickers for workouts on Tuesday as they will look toward a more reliable option. Even if they choose not to sign anyone, it would at the very least signal to Reed that he’s on an extremely short leash from here on out.
Reed was a disappointment in the team’s big game in Week 10 against the Patriots. He totally missed on a 26-yard attempt and afterward blamed the field’s conditions for his inaccuracy.
On the year, Reed has missed seven field goal attempts and looks nothing like the once-reliable kicker from year’s past. He should consider himself lucky if he’s not looking for work by the end of the week.
