The 2010 season has already claimed the jobs of two head coaches – Wade Phillips in Dallas and Brad Childress in Minnesota. It appears as if a third is on the way, likely effective at season’s end.
Jason La Canfora, of NFL.com, is hearing that Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is “very, very unlikely” to return to the team next year. Lewis, seemingly on the hot seat year in and year out, is currently in the final year of his contract and the Bengals would presumably be content with letting him walk.
Aside from 2005 and 2009 – when Cincy finished with 10+ wins – Lewis’ teams during his eight year tenure have continually underperformed and usually end with a record at or near .500. This season, they’re sitting with a 2-8 record, which could turn into 2-9 as they take on the Jets (way) later on today.
If he’s a ‘free-agent’ in 2011, you’ve got to figure Lewis – who won the Associated Press 2009 NFL Coach of The Year award – would appeal to teams with openings at coach or coordinator (if he goes that route).
La Canfora also mentions quarterback Carson Palmer, receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, and running back Cedric Benson as players who might be playing elsewhere this time next year.
Owens is the most likely goner as another team will pay him more following the reemergence he’s had in 2010 (62 rec., 897 yards, 8 TDs). Ochocinco is anyone’s guess; he’s no longer the player he once was and the lack of separation he’s getting proves that. Under a new regime, it’s quite possible that Ocho will be moved. As far Palmer and Benson, two players who’ve played very inconsistently in 2010, I think they will be retained if possible. That’s purely a guess on my end, though.
The Bengals might be in line for a major shakeup and could sport an entirely different team in the not-so-distant future.

Its not Marvin’s fault that the Bengals offensive coordinator sucks and can’t call a game and they need to keep Terrell Owens also he has been a great addition to the team its the same ol’ song and dance with mike brown fire the coach get rid of the good players and hire all scabs for another year so he can get rich
