New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead has had himself quite a Thanksgiving.

Prior to this afternoon’s game against the Lions, it was reported by the Boston Herald that Woodhead had agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Patriots that will keep him there through 2012. The deal was actually completed on November 19 but wasn’t made official until today.

The Patriots, of course, went on to trounce Detroit 45-24. Woodhead finished the game with 45 total yards.

Woodhead, whose turned out to be a perfect fit in the Pats’ offensive scheme, will earn $550,000 in 2011 and $700,000 in 2012, in addition to incentives which could net him an extra $1.175 million.

Not a bad Turkey Day for a player who was signed off of the scrap heap.

The former New York Jet, Woodhead has 312 yards on 56 touches this season along with three touchdowns. He’ll get to face his old team turned rival on next Monday’s huge showdown in Foxboro.
