Tyler Thigpen’s reign as starting quarterback of the Miami Dolphins is over after just one game.
Per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Chad Henne has been medically cleared to play and is likely to start in Week 12 against the Oakland Raiders. Henne injured his left knee in Week 10′s loss to the Titans and missed last week’s game — a Thursday night home contest versus the Bears — as a result. The Dolphins went on to lose 16-0.
He’s healed way faster than initially thought; ESPN’s John Clayton previously said that Henne would likely miss this week’s game before returning in Week 13.
“I feel pretty good,” Henne said earlier this week. “Overall, I have had much improvement over the past week and I feel pretty good.”
Thigpen, who looked awful against the Bears defense, will be the immediate backup and would enter if Henne plays poorly or starts to get knocked around, the latter being one of coach Tony Sparano’s main concerns due to the team’s shaky offensive line.
The Miami offense as a whole takes one step forward and one step backward this week. While Henne starting should ultimately lead to more points scored, they will be without star receiver Brandon Marshall this week as he is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Brian Hartline will start in his place, alongside Davone Bess.
