Despite a losing record and a recent cheating scandal, the Denver Broncos’ owner is firmly standing by his coach.

According to AOL Fanhouse, owner Pat Bowlen has squashed potential rumors of the team firing its head coach, Josh McDaniels, and confirms he will be back in 2011.

“I am not interested in making a change,” Bowlen said.

OK, what about the 2011 season? Will McDaniels be back for it?

“Yes he will,” Bowlen said. “I am not interested in making a coaching change.”

The Broncos are sitting at the bottom of the AFC West division with a 3-8 record and have had its organization fined $100,000 total for cheating. Even with that, Powlen likes what McDaniels is doing.

“I’m very happy with Josh. Josh is doing a good job. I wish he had a few more wins, but we’ve got five games to go. I’ve got 27 years in this business. The ball bounces funny and it doesn’t always bounce your way. We’ve had bad breaks, injuries. I’ve been around football long enough to know this happens and it’s a part of the game. We’ve still got a chance to make the playoffs. People have been in a position like ours and it’s been done before.”

While this might seem like a total vote of confidence on the outside, things could quickly change if Denver finishes at or below five wins in 2010. We’ve seen it happen in Minnesota and Dallas this season; at first the owner makes it sound like they’re status quo, the next minute the coach is canned and a coordinator was hired for the interim.

It’s yet another coaching situation to keep an eye on in the winter.
