Austin Collie

You’ve got to feel for the Colts’ Austin Collie.

After missing five games due to concussions, Collie made his return today against the Jaguars but went down with yet another concussion — his third of the season.

Collie was injured in the second quarter after attempting to make a catch in the middle of the field. Peyton Manning led him into traffic and Collie’s head connected with a Jaguars defender. After laying motionless for a short while, Collie got up under his own power and walked off to Indianapolis’ locker room.

It’s a shame for Indy because Collie was doing some serious damage to Jacksonville’s secondary – he had eight receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Blair White took over for him as the team’s slot receiver.

When all of the official tests are run, we’ll know the exact prognosis on Collie but all signs are pointing toward another concussion. If that’s so, he’ll most likely be shut down for the rest of the season as the team has to put his health first and foremost. It’s clear that he wasn’t totally ready to return to action.
