Although he was only released by the Cleveland Browns just two days ago, defensive lineman Shaun Rogers has already drummed up a significant amount of interest around the league.

According to Calvin Watkins, of ESPN Dallas, Rogers has “about 10 teams on his list” as he visits with the Washington Redskins today. Watkins’ coworker at ESPN, Adam Schefter, added to this report by stating Rogers has been in contact with “multiple” teams.

Rogers is a unique talent; a capable run-stuffing nose-tackle in a 3-4 alignment, as well as a disruptive pass-rushing end in the standard 4-3 look. It’s no surprise a multitude of teams are looking to sign the 31-year old, 350 lb beast.

It’s a hypothetical at this point, but in Washington, Rogers would fill the void left by Albert Haynesworth, who’s sure to be given the boot sometime this offseason. The ‘Skins employ a 3-4 defense, so he’d be lined up directly over the center and, truth be told, would probably be a better fit at the position than Haynesworth ever was.

Watkins also mentions the Cowboys as a team that could possibly throw their hat in the ring. Rogers’ former defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, now holds the same position in Big D, meaning there’d be little to no transitional growing pains for Rogers. Dallas, in this scenario, would move Jay Ratliff to defensive end, forming a particularly solid defensive line.

As time goes on, we’ll find out who the other interested clubs were, but it’s looking like the “Big Baby” will be an attractive option on the open market.
