Even though Brett Favre is technically retired, his name continues to make waves in the headlines. And still for the wrong reasons.
According to USA Today, former Jets employee Jenn Sterger is set to give her first on-camera interview since the Favre sexting scandal broke last year.
Sterger will sit down with Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos this week in a two-part interview that will air on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As everybody knows, Favre allegedly sent Sterger — then a Jets game-day hostess — racy text messages, voicemails, and photos while he was New York’s quarterback in 2008. At the height of the controversy, Sterger took a job as a host of The Daily Line, a show on the Versus Network. The gig didn’t last long as network execs pulled the plug last October due to less-than-desirable ratings.
Although she cooperated with the NFL regarding the allegations, Sterger has since kept a low-profile and is currently trying to rebuild her career.
Favre was eventually fined $50,000 by the league for involvement, or lackthereof, in the scandal.
This is surely a good look for ABC, but talk about old news. This particular story is ancient history by today’s standards and was more or less forgotten by fans and media alike.
The world has bigger issues to focus on — from the NFL’s lockout to the crisis in Japan — then a made-for-daytime television saga that carried far more importance than it ever should’ve.
