Part one of Jenn Sterger’s Good Morning America interview aired today, and the former New York Jets sideline reporter spilled the beans about last’s year sexting scandal with quarterback Brett Favre.
Sterger told host George Stephanopoulos that she and Favre have never met, despite the public’s view on the situation.
“There’s a perception of you that people automatically start to think, ‘She’s a gold-digger; she’s a homewrecker,’ ” Sterger said. “I’m none of those things. I’ve never met the man.”
She also revealed how Favre got a hold of her in the first place. Apparently, a man wearing a Jets “employee badge” asked during the 2008 preseason if she’d give her phone number to the future Hall of Fame gunslinger. Sterger refused, but Favre “somehow” obtained the number anyway.
Sterger stated that she “had no idea” how the story leaked out, and claimed she only disclosed the material to those she went to for advice on the situation.
“I didn’t want it to get out,” Sterger said. “I dealt with it, and it was over. The story comes out, and it’s like someone punched you in the stomach.”
After approaching the organization, she was supposedly told “to be quiet and not complain.”
