We still have to wait eight more days until the Madden 2012 cover is revealed, but, in the meantime, it’s been determined which college football star will grace the cover of EA Sports’ other popular football series.

According to EA.com, former Alabama running back Mark Ingram has been selected by fans to appear on the cover of the upcoming video game, NCAA Football 12.

The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner beat out three other collegiate standouts — Auburn’s Nick Fairley, Oklahoma’s DeMarco Murray, and Washington’s Jake Locker — in the month-long voting process.

Over 140,000 votes were cast, making Ingram the first fan-voted cover athlete in the game’s history.

Ingram, who took home both the Heisman and BCS National Championship in the same year, had an accomplished career with the Crimson Tide, rushing for 3,261 yards and 42 touchdowns.

After foregoing his senior season, Ingram declared for the NFL Draft, which takes place on April 28-30. He’s projected as a first-round pick.

NCAA Football 12 is set to arrive in stores on July 12.
