Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt has dodged major legal repercussions stemming from his arrest in April.

According to the Tennessean, Britt will not be charged with eluding a police officer, a third-degree felony, after prosecutors in New Jersey reviewed his case. Alternatively, he’s now facing three disorderly person and motor vehicle charges.

Though Britt could still be fined, placed on probation, or have his license suspended, Hudson County prosecutor Edward DeFazio said “this is not a situation where he, as a practical matter, would be facing incarceration.”

Britt was arrested on April 12 after leading police on a brief car chase when they attempted to pull him over for driving 71 mph in a 50-mph zone. After police had him and a passenger in custody, Britt admitted the vehicle was his, but denied that he was the driver.

Since entering the league in 2009, Britt has continually surrounded himself in controversy — be it from traffic violations or club altercations. He’ll need to steer clear of any more trouble until the season starts. Based on his past, that may be a tough task for the former Rutgers standout.
