During the 49ers’ postseason run, Vernon Davis opened up a lot of eyes with his epic performances, highlighted by the game-winning grab in a Divisional Round stunner over the Saints.
One certain person you could say is impressed is the country’s Commander-in-Chief, who wouldn’t mind if the veteran tight end took his talents to the Windy City.
With both attending a San Francisco fundraiser on Thursday night, President Barack Obama issued an open invitation for Davis to come play for his favorite team.
“If you want to come and play for the Bears you are welcome to do it,” the Chicago politician said.
Obviously, the crowd wasn’t too receptive, booing the leader of the free world for suggesting such a thing. It was all in good fun, however, as Obama was generally well-received by the “enthusiastic” bunch.
Davis, on the other hand, conveyed to the audience how much influence Obama holds, comparing the Prez to his grandmother, who kept him on the straight and narrow as a child in Washington, D.C.
“I’m inspired by President Obama the same way I’m inspired by my grandma,” Davis said.
Later, Davis took to Twitter to express what he thought of the high praise.
“I can’t believe the president just gave me some love on stage! I must be dreaming,” he tweeted.
I wonder who he’ll cast his vote for in November? Hmm.

When it’s all said and done…Obama will be touted as a man of vision… too bad he doesn’t have a congress to support him…but…why are we talking about him when we could be talking about football???…Davis isn’t going to da’Bears…who would?
Really, a man of vision? WOW some vision. I guess he must have not used that vision when he started running our country into the ground. Anyway back to Vernon. Truly has come out of his shell and become the leader and receiver we hoped he would become. Congrats on this year and I cant wait until next year.
