Roth, after finagling his way out of Miami, was claimed off waivers by the Browns on November 25. Roth posted four sacks in his shortened Browns season and figured to be penciled in as a starter for 2010.

However, often injured, I doubt Cleveland’s phones will be ringing off the hook for Roth. In the end, he just might have to sign his tender.

Even the teams that need receiver help the most are passing on Terrell Owens, not a good sign for the 36-year old.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns have ruled out signing Owens, even though GM Tom Heckert confirmed they might be interested in adding an experienced, veteran WR.

“That’s not the direction we’re headed,” he said. “There’s a lot of factors that go into that. I think at this stage of his career, this isn’t a place he’d be looking at. We don’t plan on talking to him.”

Owens, coming off a dismal season with the Bills, has many factors working against him, such as age, production, and that diva-like attitude that shadowed him throughout his 14-year career.

While I think T.O. will eventually find work, the question becomes with who? Two teams that have been reported as possible landing spots include Chicago and Jacksonville. Both teams have young receivers that could use a veteran presence like Owens’.

Nope. Montario Hardesty, RB out of Tennessee. Arguably the most powerful runner in the draft, and probably the best RB left. Another kid with a knee injury in his past. There’s some concern about his ability to change direct at the NFL level. But when in down, trust Holmgren.

The truly great thing about this year’s draft is the second-round possibly is as loaded with talent as the first. That means picks come at a premium; especially St. Louis’ second-round choice, number 33 overall.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on his Twitter that Buffalo and Cleveland have contacted the Rams about their second-round pick, presumably to nab QB’s Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy.

Both teams need quarterbacks badly. The Bills can’t be satisfied with the combination of Brian Brohm, Trent Edwards, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. For Cleveland, even with Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace on-board, they’d be wise to come out of today with a potential franchise QB.

There might be more competition for McCoy, however, as late last night it was reported the Panthers were considering a trade-up for him. Both prospects are hot commodities at this point and I’d be shocked if they lasted until the third-round.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is hearing that the team’s interest in Texas QB Colt McCoy is “real” and says not to rule out a trade to grab the young gunslinger. Mort speculates that Cleveland might package picks to move into the bottom of the first-round to ensure they get their man. If not, and he falls, they might use their second-rounder on him.

Whether this is true or not, even with the recent additions of QB’s Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme, the Browns are far from set at the most important position and really could use a long-term franchise option, such as McCoy.

Jay Glazer, of FoxSports, first broke the story.

While Quinn finally gets a fresh start elsewhere, the former first-round draft pick will have to beat out Denver’s other options (Chris Simms, Kyle Orton) just for a chance to start. It’ll be interesting to see what Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, a QB quru of sorts, can do with Quinn.

Cleveland had a logjam at the position, recently trading for Seneca Wallace and signing Jake Delhomme. Quinn never fit in with their future plans and was sent packing.

The former Patriot and the Browns agreed to a three-year deal that includes $6.35 million in guaranteed money.

Ties to the Browns and Watson included head coach Eric Mangini and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, both of whom Watson previously worked with during his time in New England.

A first-round pick in 2004, Watson was supposed to take the league by storm with his freakish mix of size, speed, and strength. Watson never lived up to lofty expectations set for him and wasn’t a priority for the Pats to re-sign; affording him the opportunity to bank roll himself elsewhere.
