This dude might lack size, but is instinctive and blitzes off the edge really well. Ran a 4.6 at combine, which is disappointing. Averaged 29 yards per kick return. Tough, durable player who will add quality depth to Todd Haley’s secondary.

Gotta love Berry talking on the phone, “I’m going to the Chiefs, baby!”

For the last several years the Chiefs and Raiders have been climbing over each other trying to escape the AFC West basement. The Cheifs lost that battle in 2009 by amassing only four wins. Berry instantly elevates their Defense.

According to Jay Glazer, per Sirius Radio, and ESPN’s Michael Smith, Tony Gonzalez has been traded to the Falcons for a 2010 2nd-round pick. This is a good trade for both sides. The Falcons get the young Matt Ryan a nice safety valve, and the Chiefs got the pick they wanted, albeit in next year’s draft.

UPDATE: Nothing’s official yet. Schefter just said there is another team involved and that the trade may not go through. Both the Chiefs and a “mystery team” have the framework for deals in place. If the Chiefs can’t close the deal then Cassel could use ‘team X’ for more cash. Schefter also says it’s a “surprise team”. More on this as it leaks.

UPDATE #2: It’s done. Cassel & Vrabel to Chiefs for Chiefs 2nd round pick.

File this under the unusual news of the day.

According to several reports, Chiefs TE and future Hall of Famer, Tony Gonzalez, saved a man from choking by using the Heimlich Maneuver.

Gonzalez was reportedly out to eat with his wife, brother, and daughter, when Ken Hunter started choking on a piece of meat a few tables over. That’s when Gonzalez stepped in and saved the man’s life by executing the Heimlich. After the meat was dislodged from the man’s throat, Hunter went up to Gonzalez and thanked him. The irony here? Hunter’s a lifelong fan of the Chargers.

Tony Gonzalez, a modern day hero.
