That home, if he had his druthers, would be somewhere in the Bay Area.

During an interview with “The Drive” on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco, which airs Monday, Owens said he would like to play for either the 49ers or Raiders.

Of course, T.O. started his career with the Niners, where he had much of his success, earning four Pro Bowl trips. It seems he might’ve been content calling it quits there, but it’s simply a pipedream with Randy Moss now in town.

“Would I have loved to have ended my career there, obviously signing a one- or two-year deal, absolutely. … It is what it is at this point. I don’t make those decisions and they were well aware I was out there so they felt they had the best man on their roster.”

As for Oakland, it’s a scenario that began gaining speculation when Darrius Heyward-Bey tweeted a photo of Owens working with Raiders wideouts and quarterback Carson Palmer, whom the 38-year-old wants to reunite with.

“There’s really only one team left in the Bay Area who I haven’t played for that really at this point in time is a viable option and that’s the Oakland Raiders,” he said. “Given the opportunity if that’s on their radar for me to come in and help them win some ball games and ultimately help them try to win a championship then I’ll take that challenge on. I definitely feel I have a lot of football left in me. I think Carson knows that.”

However, he knows at this point in the offseason that teams are more or less content with what they’ve already got, and likely won’t be looking to make any additions until training camp.

“Obviously with the draft that just occurred these guys are going to try to fill out what they have on their roster first. Go through the minicamps, the OTAs and see what they have in their barn already. I’m on the outside looking in,” Owens conceded.

Owens also disclosed that he “parted ways” with longtime superagent Drew Rosenhaus, and is currently without representation. He should have the rest of the summer to find a new agent as he’s unlikely to land a deal before then.

USA Today reports both the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins have turned down the opportunity to appear on the latest installment of “Hard Knocks” this summer.

Niners president Jed York took to Twitter Wednesday to announce he’s not interested, citing potential “distractions” as the reason why.

You get it! We don’t need distractions. RT: @bobbyspek: @JedYork maybe they can do hard knocks after they get another ring. Focus for now.

— Jed York (@JedYork) May 17, 2012

There had been speculation San Fran could get the part due to charismatic coach Jim Harbaugh, but it was never a realistic option considering his tight-lipped ways with the media.

Another pseudo-secretive head coach, Mike Shanahan, wants no part of the program, saying on PFT Live that it would not feel right with cameras and microphones hovering over the Skins’ every move.

“I just didn’t feel comfortable with being in that situation,” Shanahan said. “You know, I can’t be myself. I don’t think coaches can be their self and I’d like players to concentrate on their job. I don’t know if it’s old school or what. You know, for me I just didn’t feel comfortable with that atmosphere.”

If you’re keeping score at home thus far, four teams, including the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets, have now said ‘thanks, but no thanks’. As of the moment, it appears the Jacksonville Jaguars are the favorites, with HBO expected to announce its decision in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, the Niners signal-caller joined nearly 600 other volunteers who’ve led a search party for missing California teenager Sierra LaMar.

LaMar, 15, has been missing since March 16 and was last seen on her way to school in Morgan Hill, a city in close proximity to San Jose.

Smith, on his own accord, helped out by bringing food and water, and searched high and low through all types of terrain within a 20-mile radius of LaMar’s home.

Marc Klaas, founder of the KlaasKids Foundation, was genuinely touched by Smith’s selfless efforts.

“He wasn’t there for attention. He was there to search,” said Klaas. “It was about his heart. It’s certainly a touching thing, and it’s a huge thing, too. By showing up, he provided a value that went well beyond his own presence as a searcher.”

You can say what you want about Smith, but you’d be hard-pressed to find many other players — let alone starting quarterbacks — that are willing to step out of their posh mansions and gaudy lifestyles in a show of good humanitarianism.

Attaboy, Alex.

“For somebody of that stature to take his own initiative and do something like this, to show that he cares about the family and the community, I’m just thrilled, and I imagine Sierra LaMar’s family is, too,” Klaas said. “It shows you the kind of person Alex Smith must be.”

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers have agreed to terms with running back Brandon Jacobs.

Financial terms aren’t yet known, though it’s likely a short-term pact worth near the veterans minimum.

The former Big Blue bruiser figures to take over as Frank Gore’s primary backup, and should gobble up goal-line and short-yardage carries in San Fran.

There was talk that Jacobs could return to the Giants — or even join the crosstown rival Jets — but it became obvious his time in the Big Apple had run out, so he decided to head west.

This is another indication that the 49ers will remain a run-first team, using Gore, Jacobs, and Kendall Hunter to open up the passing lanes for Alex Smith, who’ll then look toward his two new toys on the outside — and, of course, tight end Vernon Davis down the seams.

With the 49ers recently emerging as a mystery candidate in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, one former San Fran signal-caller, who, you know, was pretty good in his own right, gave his two cents on where #18 might end up.

His opinion … well, was not too surprising.

Appearing on SportsCenter, Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young revealed that coach Jim Harbaugh threw with Manning during their private work out at Duke University this week, one of many factors that will “probably” lead to the team signing the much-discussed free agent.

“Trent Baalke laid low, he did the research, Jim Harbaugh threw with Peyton Manning,” Young said. “They didn’t get in the front pages. They know that they are the best answer for Peyton Manning. They know they have the best defense in the league to offer. They know they have the offensive weapons. They know they have Jim Harbaugh. They know all the pieces in place for Peyton Manning. It is the best opportunity for Peyton Manning. They knew it, and they waited for the wannabes to exhaust themselves, and then they came in right at the end, and that’s why I think they’ll probably land him at this point.”

Young feels the 49ers are the most attractive option to Manning, given the fact they’re already in win-now mode.

“I know Peyton Manning is looking for a team to join now and win a division now and go to the Super Bowl now,” Young said. “That’s the San Francisco 49ers.”

For what it’s worth (which is probably not much), a fellow Hall of Famer also shares Young’s sentiments.

Payton Manning would be a great fitfor the 49ers. What y’all think?

— Emmitt Smith (@EmmittSmith22) March 17, 2012

Bias aside, Young certainly does raise some fair points. Other than money, which is said to be a non-factor to Manning, the Niners hold every advantage over the other two contenders for his services — Denver and Tennessee — and are definitely closer to a championship.

Manning is reportedly set to work out for the Titans on Saturday, with a decision on his future possibly coming by Tuesday.

Well, the veteran receiver can officially now call the Bay Area home.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Niners agreed to a one-year contract with Moss on Monday.

Moss spent Monday afternoon catching passes from head coach Jim Harbaugh, who relived his glory days by lobbing up a few to the 35-year-old.

Harbaugh must’ve been impressed with what he saw, and likely pushed GM Trent Baalke to bring Moss aboard, giving the team the downfield threat which it severely lacked in 2011.

It’ll be interesting to see the financial terms of the deal, though I assume it’s probably an incentive-laden pact and non-guaranteed, which Moss already admitted he’d be willing to take.

It may seem like an odd fit, considering Moss’ baggage-filled history and Harbaugh’s take-no-you-know-what attitude, but if Bill Belichick can keep him in line, there’s no reason to think he won’t be a good soldier in San Fran.

Skeptics be damned.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Moss will fly out to San Francisco to work out for the 49ers on Monday.

This will be Moss’ second confirmed visit after announcing his intentions to return to the NFL nearly one month ago.

It’s no surprise the Niners are giving him a look, considering they stand to lose two wideouts — Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn Jr. — in free agency. Although he wouldn’t be an end-all-be-all solution to their woes at the position, Moss could be considered an upgrade from what they trotted out onto the field in 2011.

GM Trent Baalke recently did little to mask his interest in the 35-year-old, increasing the likelihood they’ll sign him.

“Everything’s in play,” Baalke told the Sacramento Bee. “I mean, we’re going to take a look at all our options. … We’re not going to rule anybody out.”

One certain person you could say is impressed is the country’s Commander-in-Chief, who wouldn’t mind if the veteran tight end took his talents to the Windy City.

With both attending a San Francisco fundraiser on Thursday night, President Barack Obama issued an open invitation for Davis to come play for his favorite team.

“If you want to come and play for the Bears you are welcome to do it,” the Chicago politician said.

Obviously, the crowd wasn’t too receptive, booing the leader of the free world for suggesting such a thing. It was all in good fun, however, as Obama was generally well-received by the “enthusiastic” bunch.

Davis, on the other hand, conveyed to the audience how much influence Obama holds, comparing the Prez to his grandmother, who kept him on the straight and narrow as a child in Washington, D.C.

“I’m inspired by President Obama the same way I’m inspired by my grandma,” Davis said.

Later, Davis took to Twitter to express what he thought of the high praise.

“I can’t believe the president just gave me some love on stage! I must be dreaming,” he tweeted.

I wonder who he’ll cast his vote for in November? Hmm.

Unfortunately, less than a week after his season ended, he now finds himself in trouble with the law.

He’s currently being held on $1,000 bond.

If convicted, the 22-year-old Smith would likely face a suspension from NFL officials, who take a hard stance against players who drink and drive. More details as they emerge.

Arguably the hottest topic buzzing through the NFL right now is the future of All-World quarterback Peyton Manning.

Okay, okay, maybe he’s only the second most talked about item, behind, of course, the surging Denver <del>Tebows</del> Broncos. Still, for the last several months, Manning has drawn more gossip and back-page press than the National Enquirer.

The Colts, whom he’s currently under contract with, are weighing their only options, trying to determine whether to retain him — eating a $28 million option bonus for a potential mentor to Andrew Luck — or cut him loose, an unfathomable scenario to Indianapolis’ faithful.

If it’s the latter, we may have early insight into where Peyton may end up.

Per NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, “general managers around the league” have mentioned the Seahawks, Cardinals, and 49ers as “possible destinations” for Manning.

The recent buzz has linked Manning to the Jets, who are revamping their offensive coaching staff after a late-season meltdown culminated in locker room turmoil and dissension. Quarterback Mark Sanchez has been trashed lately, both by the media and his own teammates, who’ve publicly come out and suggested that Gang Green needs to look elsewhere for their franchise signal-caller.

Might the Jets heed their call, and, for the second time in four years, swoop in and acquire a future Hall of Fame QB? Could the Big Apple become occupied by the Brothers Manning?

To quote Lee Corso: Not so fast, my friend.

La Canfora threw cold water on the idea Thursday, saying the potential marriage doesn’t add up and is unlikely to materialize.

“People I talk to in the league just don’t see it happening,” La Canfora told “NFL Total Access on Thursday. “It just doesn’t add up to where (Manning) wants to be.”

No, the real horses in this race evidently reside in the NFC West.

On top of what La Canfora is hearing, CBS’ Charley Casserly, a well-respected name in league circles, dubbed the Cardinals as the “one team to watch” due to the probable departure of Kevin Kolb, and coach Ken Whisenhunt’s prior experience with an all-time great under center.

It’s a fit that’d make sense from a logistical standpoint, too. Arizona offers everything the Colts do — and more.

Manning would continue to play indoors, with an elite receiver, an above-average running game, and … the best part? Doing so in a division that even the Crimson Tide could give a run for its money.
