There’s no question that new coach Greg Schiano is changing the culture in Tampa Bay. ‘Out with the old, in with the new’ is his motto, and, in this instance, it certainly applies to the tight end position.

Per Sirius XM NFL Radio host Andrew Bogusch, Kellen Winslow was told Monday morning that he’s “not wanted” by the Buccaneers organization, and the team will help facilitate a trade.

The reason for Winslow’s departure reportedly has to do with his offseason habits; he worked out out alone, rather than with his team, obviously a no-no in Schiano’s eyes.

However, financial reasons likely play a bigger part. The 28-year-old looked to have lost some of his explosiveness last season and the club must feel he’s not worth the $3 million in base salary. If a trade partner cannot be found, expect Winslow to be given his outright release.

In either case, it appears the Buccaneers already have a replacement lined up.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Tampa recently worked out free agent Dallas Clark, and are “expected to try to make a move on him this week.”

Released by the Colts in January, Clark has received little interest since. His tires were kicked by the Patriots and Chiefs, but that’s as far as it’s gone.

In Tampa, he’d bring leadership and a veteran presence, though he’s just about five-years older than Winslow and is not nearly the playmaker he used to be. Despite his caveats, Clark would likely start from Day One, so look for a deal to eventually get done.

As for Winslow, well, it’s come time for him to soldier on elsewhere.

UPDATE: The Bucs have signed Clark, according to reports. Expect Winslow to be dumped in short order.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (who else?), the Bucs signed Nicks to a five-year, $47.5 million contract, including $31 million in guarantees.

Just as he wanted, Nicks surpassed the Patriots’ Logan Mankins both in annual salary and guaranteed money.

In Tampa, Nicks, widely regarded among the top interior lineman in football, will team up with Davin Joseph to solidify the front-five.

This move will pay off two-fold, giving Josh Freeman more time to scan the field and opening up more holes for running back LeGarrette Blount (or whoever will be toting the rock in Tampa.)

Heading into free agency, the Bucs wanted to make a splash, and surround Freeman with more talent. They did just that, corralling the market’s best receiver, Vincent Jackson, and now plucking arguably the NFL’s best guard away from their divisional rivals.

A Tampa woman has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Talib, alleging the Bucs cornerback threatened to “put a cap in (her)” during a traffic dispute in December 2010.

Per the Tampa Tribune, the woman is suing for $15,000, claiming she experienced physical injuries when Talib “negligently caused them to collide,” along with “depression, anxiety, and severe emotional distress” from Talib’s supposed verbal actions.

If Talib has anything working in his favor, however, it’s the fact that police have no accident report on file, and are unable to verify if a crash indeed took place that day.

Though, as he proved nearly one year ago, the 26-year-old corner just can’t stay out of trouble. Despite being indicted for a felony, Talib narrowly avoided a suspension last season, surprising local media who claimed he’d be “all but gone” from the team.

New coach Greg Schiano has stated that Talib will remain with the Bucs, but that was before these new allegations were brought to light. My guess is he’ll remain in Tampa, though he might not be so lucky with commissioner Roger Goodell this time around.

Well, as we’re finding out a day later, that number could stand to be bumped up to the full monty.

Sources tell Clark Judge of CBSSports.com there is “virtually no chance” Manningham returns to the Giants, as the free agent is “expected” to sign with the Buccaneers.

Why Tampa, you ask?

Manningham would be reunited with former Giants assistant Mike Sullivan, now the Bucs’ offensive coordinator, and “people close” to the 25-year-old receiver say he prefers a warm-weather locale.

Also, the Buccaneers have a ton of salary cap space and can offer him much more money than the Giants would even consider — as a starter, no less.

Connecting the dots, it appears to be a perfectly sensible match for both parties.

Heading into the start of the new league year, reports estimate that Tampa Bay is sitting pretty with $60.5 million in salary cap space, second only to the Chiefs’ $62.9 million.

So what are they planning on doing with all that dough? Spending it. Every last bit of it.

According to the Tampa Tribune, Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik indicated Tuesday that he’s putting “every penny” toward a splurge in free agency, which officially opens on March 13.

“We’ll be more active in free agency that we were last year,” Dominik said Tuesday as new head coach Greg Schiano continued to work on filling out his staff. “We purposely rolled every penny we could into this year’s cap. Clubs didn’t have to do that, but we wanted to. We have plans.”

Those “plans” may include backing up the Brinks truck for a few of the elite players who are expected to hit the open market, including Mario Williams and Vincent Jackson.

Jackson, in particular, may be the most practical target, as the team has a major need at receiver, and are one of the few franchises that could cough up the $50 million pact he’s said to be seeking.

Unfortunately, the soon-to-be free agent knows his shelf life may be set to expire soon.

While at a charity event for fellow teammate Shelton Quarles on Saturday night, Barber told the Tampa Bay Times that he’s undecided over his future with the organization.

“Things have to play themselves out like they did last year,” Barber said. “We’ll have a meeting of the minds like we did last year and if I fit in, we’ll go from there.”

Reading between the lines, it appears he wants to continue on in 2012. However, Barber remains noncommittal, and won’t indicate a preference one way or the other.

“I’m not leaning one way or the other. I’m not allowing myself to lean one way or the other. I’m pretty sure where I stand, but I haven’t allowed myself to commit.

“It means, I don’t know. I don’t know is the best I can tell you. It could be either (outcome).”

Set to turn 37 in April, Barber seemed to have lost a step (or three) this past season, with several receivers torching the three-time All-Pro on a consistent basis.

Retirement was said to be an option for Barber after undergoing arm surgery last month, and the firing of Raheem Morris could ultimately play a part in his decision.

Per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Buccaneers will interview Marty Schottenheimer for their head-coaching vacancy on Tuesday.

The 68-year-old Schottenheimer has been out of the NFL since 2006, when he was unceremoniously fired as the Chargers’ head coach after a 14-2 season.

Since that point, he’s been working as a television analyst, and also became the head coach of the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers, with whom he won a championship in 2011.

He’s said to have “sustained hunger and love” for coaching and would love the opportunity to return to the big leagues.

Schottenheimer joins a who’s who of former coaches that are being currently being courted by the Bucs, including Mike Sherman, Wade Phillips, and Brad Childress.

If Tampa Bay is looking to win in the regular season, Schottenheimer is definitely their man. He has a career record of 200-126-1 in that department. However, the knock on him is that his teams never win when it counts, evidenced by a dismal 5-13 postseason mark.

As expected, it’s already claimed the jobs of Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo and GM Billy Devaney.

Now, in what is usually the consequence of a terrible season, the Bucs’ head man has been issued his walking papers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired head coach Raheem Morris.

In fact, GM Mark Dominik, whose job is reportedly safe, decided to clean house entirely, relieving each coach and coordinator of their duties.

Morris oversaw a Tampa squad that went from a contender in 2010 to an NFL doormat in 2011, finishing with 10 straight losses and a 4-12 record.

After the Bucs began the season 4-2, looking like they’re finally ready to make a legit playoff push, the team simply crashed and burned.

It’s not like they were competitive in defeat, either. During the epic losing streak, the Buccaneers were outscored 349-174, a damning indication that Morris couldn’t get them to play hard on a weekly basis.

Even when the NFL was on hiatus due to the lockout, commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear that he’ll be holding players responsible for their actions off-the-field. Despite the backlash he’s receiving from the NFLPA, the commish is about to make good on his word — starting with Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib.

Three sources tell Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports that Talib “can expect” a four-game suspension to begin the season.

Earlier in the week, Talib met with Goodell for the second time in a little under two years, a surefire way to receive the heave-ho for a quarter of the season.

For those who are unfamiliar with Talib’s transgressions, the fourth-year man was involved in a March shooting in Dallas, Texas; he allegedly pistol-whipped and fired gunshots at his sister’s boyfriend. Talib was eventually arrested and indicted on a count of felony assault with a deadly weapon. His trial is scheduled for next year, and could face 2-20 years in prison if convicted.

The other sitdown with Goodell came prior to the 2010 season, when Talib was suspended for Opening Day after striking a cab driver in 2009. It could be just two-strikes and you’re out for the 25-year-old.

Many in Tampa, including the local media, have called for the organization to cut ties with the troubled Talib. It seemed as if it was a certainty to happen at some point after the lockout was lifted, but Bucs coach Raheem Morris “begged ownership” to keep him around and they apparently listened.

There’s little doubt that Talib possesses a great amount of talent — his draft status (20th overall selection) and stats (15 career interceptions) speak for themselves. But he’ll now be one strike away from potentially missing an entire season if he slips up again, a probable outcome considering his tumultuous past.

His coach stuck his neck out on the line for him, and now Talib needs to prove his coach right and show he’s worthy of the roster spot. Unfortunately for him, he likely won’t get a chance to do so until Week 5.

Per ESPN, a Texas grand jury has officially indicted Aqib Talib on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The second-degree charge carries a possible sentence of 2-20 years in prison.

Although the indictment was expected, Talib’s lawyer, Jay Reisinger, is “very confident” that his client will be exonerated when all is said and done.

“The grand jury was not privy to a number of important facts,” Talib’s attorney, Jay Reisinger, said Friday in a statement. “We are very confident that once we have the opportunity to present all of the facts, this matter will be resolved in Mr. Talib’s favor.

“Aqib looks forward to putting this matter behind him and returning to the game of football.”

On March 21, police responded to a domestic disturbance call and, upon arriving at the scene, determined that Talib fired gunshots at his sister’s boyfriend, Shannon Billings. Even though Billings was unharmed, a warrant went out for Talib’s arrest and he was eventually taken into custody.

He has since been released on $25,000 bond.

While the next step would be for this case to go to trial, Talib is looking at discipline even if he’s found not guilty. The Bucs’ former first-round pick has had several instances of trouble since entering the league, which prompted the Tampa media to declare him “all but gone” from the organization.

Due to the NFL lockout, commissioner Roger Goodell can’t impose a suspension or any other infraction, though he’s said to be keeping a tally of the league’s arrests and other run-ins with the law. At the very least, it’s hard to imagine Talib not being summoned to the commish’s office — possibly as a free agent — once the labor dispute is resolved.
