Titans, Chris Johnson work out a new deal Posted by Mike Florio on July 19, 2010 4:05 PM ET A league source tells us that the Tennessee Titans and running back Chris Johnson have agreed to terms on a new contract that solves the financial problems between team and player. At least for 2010. As expected, the arrangement will pay Johnson more money this year, with no additional years being added to the contract. Johnson currently is signed through 2012. The new deal has not yet been signed, so we suppose it could fall through. But at this point it's unlikely. Specifics aren't yet known. It had been reported that the Titans would likely accelerate some escalators money Johnson unlocked for future years as a way to bump up his $550,000 base salary for 2010. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() QUOTE While I unborn in my mother's womb, I wrote these words... "Look, I know it's not everyday that you get a lecture from a seven-week old embryo, but I need to get this off my chest. That's especially because my chest is like one-sixteenth of an inch right now. So just hear me out. And please bear with me as I ramble through this. I don't have any slides or anything. I realize I'm not even a fetus yet, but I already hate the Kansas City Chiefs. I realized it right off the bat; there's no chance I'll ever think two shits of this organization. Their team is boring, their uniforms are boring, and their city might as well be named Bordopolis. Did you like that? I came up with that yesterday. I heard someone ask how the Chiefs did in the draft, and not only did I have no clue, I didn't care." I think that sums up how I've always felt about that. |

Chris Johnson signs his new deal Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 22, 2010 10:51 AM ET Chris Johnson has officially received the pay raise he was looking for. Per a league source, Johnson signed the deal on Thursday that PFT first reported was agreed to on Monday. The contract will pay Johnson more money this season by accelerating some escalators that he had unlocked for future seasons. So Johnson will arrive at Titans practices next week a happy camper. And he'll still that way -- at least until next offseason. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() QUOTE While I unborn in my mother's womb, I wrote these words...
